Science, software and the boardroom
Entrepreneur and executive
Founded Dotmatics in 2005 as a spin-out from Merck and served as CTO, building the scientific informatics platform now used by more than two million scientists across ten thousand customer organisations. The business later took private equity investment from SEP and Insight Partners, and now sits within Siemens.
Pharmaceutical informatics
Experience working with Dotmatics' global customer base across pharma, biotech and academia.
Research and development
A decade as a medicinal chemist and chemoinformatician in neuroscience research at Merck, following a BSc in Chemistry (Durham) and an MSc in Chemoinformatics (Sheffield).
Board roles
I work as a NED at Dormole, a tool distribution, manufacturing and logistics business with £250m+ turnover and more than 1,000 employees. I hold the IoD Certificate in Company Direction.
I am a Trustee of Music for my Mind, a dementia charity.
Advisory
Ad hoc advisor to a number of venture capital and private equity funds. I have also been involved with the Healthcare Technologies Capability Connector and the Alzheimer's Society Innovation Advisory Group.
Angel investment
An active angel investor in a number of technology and healthtech ventures, among others. The portfolio is listed below.
